Last night I was invited to a party last minute, like really last minute, that turned out to be a rather chic deal. The fundraiser was for UNICEF and their their Next Generation Tap Project, whose aim it is to provide clean water and sanitation to areas of the world lacking the infrastructure and facilities. The theme: Havana Nights. White suits, linen shirts, dresses with sleek silhouettes bursting with colour and floral headpieces. Quick tangent: Being there reminded me the film Romancing the Stone (if you’re too young to know that one, I don’t care; it’s an 80s classic and I like what I like). Of course there was a live salsa band, and an open bar, and I failed to get the name of the brand of Tequila they were serving, but it went down like water and didn’t begin to take effect until I was home and sorting through these images. Gah. When finally ended just after midnight, many of the partygoers were still remarkably fresh and looking to see which afterparty they could hit up to keep the festivities going—Havana Nights doesn’t have a curfew. Just another Thursday evening in New York City.
As always, TGIF!
