Who did it first? René did it first… and that’s exactly what designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista wants you to know about the preppy standard that the label he steers has set in the realm of fashion. Maybe we needed to be reminded; there’s something about the Lacoste FW15 that completely restores faith in ready-to-wear collections on the runway. Lacoste has a little bit of everything here, a little sophistication, a little casual, soft lines and the sort of bright colours that make them a must-see draw at New York Fashion Week. What’s great about new line is how playful it is—everything breathes. The headbands are a nice touch without coming off too hipster; they end up feeling more 70’s retro, and the Bauhaus 93-like typography is an especially nice touch. A little less country club, but a little more tennis club, or a gang of Atari girls coming to conquer your system.
Enjoy.
