“Hit Me Baby One More Time…” was running through my head on occasional loop in blips while shooting this collection. The Masha Ma SS15 collection had a few moments of naughty preppiness (or preppy naughtiness) interwoven between pieces containing a little more of the traditional flair you would expect from the label. Actually, Ma’s new line is a bit more understated than that—there aren’t any trails of fabric floating on that are unclear where they begin and end. The layers in particular are minimally conservative and fit right on the money—everything felt light or breathable. Not bad for a designer who typically prefers show over easy function. But as a quick reprise on the schoolgirls gone bad, the monogram sweatshirt tops really work and add a bit of panache to the stylised girl in the study.
