When I first returned to New York back in 2008, I needed to get a job, fast. I ended up working at The Gap in Brooklyn part time. Say what you will about working in retail, but one can learn a lot of life tools there (like, forget about fashion; I fold my clothes so much faster after doing laundry now, alas). Anyway, while the pay was a bit substandard, the discount between it, Old Navy and Banana Republic was actually . . . respectable. One of my store managers way back then in that Brooklyn store was Luis. I hadn’t seen him in a few years, but randomly ran into him in the city a couple of Fridays ago and took this photo of him. He’s now a manager at one of those super high-end boutiques on 5th Avenue near Central Park on the east side.
