New York Nights…

When I get invited to the best parties in New York, my friend Elien Becque is either the one doing the inviting, or she manages to appear at some point after the drinks have been in full supply. A part of the Conde Nast family (but not literally), she only knows sharp urbanites who know how to have a class time. In other words, if Elien is involved, I’m probably going to bring my camera.
To kick off the summer, Elien decided to throw her own party for once. The occasion was to help promote Room Zoom, a roommate matchmaking service designed to take the creeps out of your otherwise Craiglist-y experience. Elien’s Bowery studio is long and ridiculously spacious, the kind of place that makes you add sums in the back of your mind on how much could be made by staging music videos and other types of shoots.
I do hope to get back to more soirees while the weather is nice and balmy this summer. I’ve been working on a commercial portfolio site for some time now (well, a very long time now) and feel like it’s finally materialised in the right direction. Away from Fashion Week, a party is my absolute favourite thing to shoot. I like it when class gets a little gritty, from time to time.
