South Beach, Miami | 14.41 pm

I’ve been to Florida many times in my life, and I’ve been to the beaches in Florida a few times in my life, but this is the first time I’ve ever gone to South Beach. Of course, whether you’ve been before or not, you’ve heard all sorts of great and fantastic things about it. To be honest, I’ve heard so many great things that for the past few years I’ve been very bleh about the idea of ever going. But this week I had to go, and, well for starters it really is everything it’s cracked up to be. Having had to go in the middle of the week was an added bonus because there weren’t many people in the streets or on the beaches, I assume it’s ridiculous on the weekends. With a rental car it’s basically 15 or 20 minutes to get from the airport to the beach. I know a lot of people take the public transit when they arrive but that cost is totally worth it if say, you want to swim in the ocean until the very last minute.

Anyway, there’s three things that really stand out to me about South Beach:

1) No dogs
2) The beach was …. extremely clean. Perhaps it’s because it’s early in the season? But I didn’t see a drop of trash at any point.
3) On par with San Diego, this was probably the warmest ocean water I’ve touched in the U.S. So ridiculously warm, you don’t ever want to come out.

TGIF!
