I love Mens Fashion Week. This was my first time covering the event since it landed in New York (its second season here). I’ve been told often that Mens week is vastly different from its counterpart and that Pitti Uomo in Florence is the Holy Grail of it, and after the experience I’ve just had I’m pining to put Italy on my calendar for once. Everyone is nicer; the models (though no shots to the women, but the boys just aren’t worked as hard), almost all of the PR teams and even the guests. The cordiality of everyone involved reminded me much of my week in Berlin — it’s just one of those experiences that you look forward to revisiting.
Case in point was the Thomas Pink FW16 presentation at the New York Soho house, which was my last stop of the day. Kelly from Thomas Pink was nice enough to chat a bit about overall collection and some of the things that distinguish good English tailoring. I’ve been a fan of Pink for a long time; years actually as I was quite the tie collector back in the day and had at one point amassed a collection of well over 50 bow and neck ties. For the FW16 line we get more of the same: clean prints, some snazzy designs and accessories that pop with orange and pink. It’ll be a true destination for some late-season shopping.
