I’ve been a fan and loyal customer with Warby Parker for some time now. I love their eyeglasses and the fact that they have cool (and sometimes quirky) designs that are both high quality and inexpensive. I also love the fact that for the past year we seem to have a pretty reciprocal relationship; we follow each other on Instagram and they always give me a shout out when I’m photographed wearing them. So when then they reached out to me recently to let me know they were releasing their Summer 2014 collection, I was one of the first people to sign up and test drive the new frames. As I looked through their catalogue and promo materials, the thought came naturally: Why not just photograph other people wearing them?
For the spread, I called on a few lovely people who have appeared on the blog in the past: What better way to catch up than an impromptu shoot? Oh yeah, and wear these glasses!
The Summer 2014 collection boasts nine new designs in a variety of shades and colours. For purposes of this post, I selected 5 via Warby Parker’s Home Try-On program—it’s especially great if you live in the U.S. or Canada and don’t live near a Warby Parker retail store Just sign up, pick out some frames, and Warby Parker will ship them to you to try for five days. Done and done.
The photo sessions began at 5:30 am on Coney Island Beach with Ligeia (right), continued at Bryant Park with Peggy, Nolita in the late-afternoon with Monica and the West Side with Ellie at sunset. I really wanted to capture the diversity of the glasses in a myriad of settings and moods across New York City for the summer and am happy with how these turned out, although unfortunately a planned session at Central Park had been rained out!
For those of you who have prescription needs or just want some frames to help flesh out your look, Warby Parker is worth a try; at $95 they remain one of the best values in the designer eyewear world.
