… And who said Sunday night parties weren’t legit? I left the D’Angelo show in Queens to make the two-year anniversary party for the Sabah Dealer in the East Village, a trek that will take some time by subway on a normal day but was exceptionally so on this night as the trains were delayed and running local due to ongoing construction. I expected to roll up to the door at about 11pm just to see hoards of tipsy people wandering home.
Nope.
“Lord Ashbury!” I heard screamed from the second floor window.
“The band’s just taking a break,” said Mickey Ashmore, the Sabah dealer himself as he showed me around the space. I don’t really have to explain much more I suppose, the photos speak for themselves. As I say of a good dance party though, it’s not worth it if nobody sweats.
Enjoy responsibly.
